GYPSY SPORT FALL/WINTER 2014
MY FRIEND JONATHAN GRASSI HAD A COOL PHOTO PROJECT CALLED #COMMUTICATION ABOUT SUBWAY STYLES. SINCE #GYPSYSPORT WAS A VERY UNDERGROUND BRAND, I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE COOL TO SHOOT AGAINST THE SUBWAY TILES. WE SHOT ON A RAINY DAY IN MARCH, SO BEING UNDERGROUND ACTUALLY WORKED OUT NICELY.
THE MODEL IS ALEXANDER BARNA. I MET HIM SKATING IN THE LOWER EAST SIDE. HE TOLD ME HE WAS A SIGNED MODEL BUT I KNEW I COULDNT AFFORD THE AGENCY RATE SO HE AGREED TO MODEL IN EXCHANGE OF SOME GEAR FOR HIM AND HIS GF. NOT MANY PEOPLE WOULD BE DOWN TO SHOOT GUERRILLA STYLE ON A SUBWAY PLATFORM, BUT HE DEF CAME THROUGH.
IT WAS A VERY COLD DAY, SO IN BETWEEN LOOKS WE WRAPPED ALEXANDER IN THAT BIG KNITTED BLANKET. THE SUBWAY WAS CRAZY BUSY, BUT WE LET EVERYONE PASS THROUGH THE FRAME WHILE WE WERE SHOOTING. IT ADDED SOME LEVEL OF REALITY TO THE PICTURES. I REMEMBER THERE WERE LIKE 100 STROLLERS, AND THIS ONE MADE IT INTO THE FINAL EDIT.
I REALLY LOVE THIS PIC. #COMMUTICATION
